Finland electricity price today
Finland is a single bidding zone, FI. Households here already know pörssisähkö: the exchange price, hour by hour, plus the charges that do not move with it.
What sets the Finnish hour
Winter electric heating and heat pumps lift demand. Wind and nuclear, including Olkiluoto 3, pull the price down when they are running. A still, cold day can do the opposite.
Estonia is on the other side of Estlink, Sweden is to the west, and both matter when Finland would otherwise clear on its own.
Using a cheap hour in Finland
On a spot contract, a hot-water tank, a heat-pump preheat, a dishwasher or an EV charge belongs in the cheap block. On a fixed energy rate, the hour does not change the energy price.
The Finland page shows the auction in Helsinki time. It is not a forecast of your full bill.
Questions
+Is this the Finnish spot price?
Yes. It is the Nord Pool day-ahead price for zone FI, before the supplier margin, distribution, electricity tax and VAT.
+Why are some Finnish nights suddenly expensive?
Cold weather, low wind or a tight Nordic system can keep the night from falling. The chart shows the result; it does not invent a cause.
+Does a fixed-price Finnish contract benefit from shifting?
Not on the energy rate. Shifting pays when the contract follows the exchange.
